U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller stated in a press conference today that "the department has not made any substantial communications with North Korea since American soldier Travis King crossed into North Korea last week." Miller pointed out that "Washington has reached out to confirm King's whereabouts and verify information regarding his safety, but has not received any response." King, an American soldier who was serving in South Korea, crossed into North Korea on July 18 while on a tour in the demilitarized zone along the Korean border.
