American Reconnaissance Aircraft Disturbs North Korea

North Korea's state news agency reported on Friday that the country's military stated it quickly launched warplanes after an American reconnaissance aircraft violated the airspace of the economic zone off the eastern coast. A spokesperson for the North Korean General Staff, quoted in the official report, described the incident that occurred on Thursday as a "serious military provocation" and mentioned that North Korea is considering measures to deter future intrusions. This incident occurred just before a summit between the United States, South Korea, and Japan on Friday. A South Korean official indicated on Thursday, citing intelligence information, that North Korea might launch an intercontinental ballistic missile or conduct another military action in protest of the meeting. President Joe Biden is gathering at Camp David in Maryland with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, hoping to strengthen relations between Seoul and Tokyo amidst nuclear threats from North Korea and the growing regional influence of China. Additionally, South Korea and the United States are set to begin joint military drills on Monday, lasting for 11 days.
