German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that "European leaders will use a summit in Brussels to send a clear signal of their support for Israel in its efforts to defend itself." Schulz added in comments to reporters ahead of the meeting of EU government heads: "It is important that we allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza," noting that "the civilian population in Gaza is also victims of Hamas."
