UAE Energy Minister: The World Needs to Focus on Phasing Out Coal

The UAE Energy Minister Suhail Mohamed Faris Al Mazrouei stated today, on the sidelines of the COP28 climate summit, that the world needs to focus on phasing out coal. He added, "I don't think we should be talking about phasing out (fossil fuels) because technologies are also improving. What if we have technology in the future that removes all carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels and makes them as clean as any other type of fuel? Why are we fighting it before we have the alternative?"
