The Minister of Environment in the caretaker government, Nasser Yassine, noted that “4.6 million square meters (462 hectares) have been burned by the Israeli enemy's shells and phosphorus weapons in the border towns of southern Lebanon, igniting over 100 fires that extended over vast forested areas of high environmental importance, agricultural lands, and tens of thousands of olive trees.” He announced in a statement that "we will file a documented complaint against the scorched earth policy and the use of phosphorus employed by the Israeli enemy."
