The Saudi team Al Hilal was crowned the champion of the King Abdulaziz Cup after defeating Al Wahda team in a penalty shootout with a score of 7-6 in the final match held on Friday at the King Abdullah Sports City stadium "The Shining Jewel" in Jeddah.
The regular and extra time ended in a 1-1 draw, with Al Wahda taking the lead with a goal from their player Abdulkarim Yoda in the 35th minute, while Al Hilal equalized in the dying moments of the game through their player Ali Al Bulaihi in the 99th minute.
On behalf of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince, awarded Al Hilal the first-place trophy following the final match and presented the players along with their counterparts from Al Wahda and the referees with commendatory medals.
Upon the Crown Prince's arrival, he was welcomed by cheering fans, along with Prince Badr bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Governor of Mecca, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Sports, Deputy Minister of Sports Badr Al-Qadi, and the President of the Saudi Football Federation Yasser Al-Mishal.
With this victory, Al Hilal secured the King Abdulaziz Cup title for the tenth time in its history, making up for its Asian setback after losing the AFC Champions League final to the Japanese team Urawa Red Diamonds last week.
