In light of the recent tremors in Lebanon, volunteer teams comprising more than 170 individuals conducted a comprehensive survey of buildings in the Zahiriyeh area of Tripoli, aiming to classify the structures from a construction standpoint. This initiative also addresses the natural factors and accumulated neglect affecting the poorer areas, especially in Tripoli.
This campaign, titled "Our Heart is for Tripoli," is an initiative by the Lebanese Association for Scientific Research (LASER) in partnership with the Engineers Syndicate in Tripoli, in collaboration with the Higher Relief Commission at the Lebanese government and the Tripoli municipality, and supported by the Tripoli Task Force (TFT).
More than 170 volunteer engineers and engineering students from universities across Lebanon participated in the survey, forming 34 teams that used a smart application developed specifically for data collection and classification.
This campaign represents a first step towards conducting a comprehensive survey of all areas with older buildings most affected or neglected.
The Lebanese Association for Scientific Research has called on all engineers and engineering students to volunteer to continue the survey through the "Our Heart is for Tripoli" campaign by contacting the page directly or via WhatsApp at the number: 71926197 961+.
