Jordan: Prince Hashem Sparks Reactions on Social Media During His First Political Duty

Prince Hashem (18 years old) took the constitutional oath as a deputy for his father, King Abdullah II, for the first time in his life, following the King’s trip to Egypt. This event generated various reactions on social media. Some users on the platform "X" questioned the absence of Crown Prince Hussein, who is usually assigned to this duty, while others highlighted that Prince Hashem, as a member of the Hashemite family, is deserving of the responsibility he was given. Additionally, some commenters noted his young age and the implications of undertaking such a task.

This marked the first time Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II took on the role of representing the King in his absence. Born in 2005, he is the youngest son of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah, following Crown Prince Hussein, Princess Iman, and Princess Salma. Prince Hashem graduated in June of this year from King's Academy in Madaba after completing his secondary education. He was also seen at the wedding ceremony of his brother, the Crown Prince, accompanying Princess Rajwa to the palace for the marriage contract.
