The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced the appearance of two positive cases of COVID-19 from the Omicron variant strain (EG-5.2). The ministry clarified in a statement that the clinical symptoms exhibited by the infected individuals are mild, and they are recovering. It indicated that the symptoms associated with the EG-5.2 variant are minimal, and there are no medical recommendations for any additional measures. The medical advice continues to emphasize vaccination with booster doses, especially for the groups most affected by the disease, such as the elderly and individuals with chronic illnesses or conditions that impair the immune response. The recommendations also include continuous disinfection of hands and surfaces, wearing masks in crowded or poorly ventilated areas, for individuals showing respiratory symptoms, avoiding close contact with uninfected individuals, and maintaining good nutrition.
