Today, Wednesday, Prime Minister Najib Mikati held a series of meetings at the Grand Serail, starting with a meeting with Matteo Luciano, the head of the International Organization for Migration office in Lebanon. The discussions focused on the issue of illegal migration and the ongoing cooperation between the Lebanese state and the organization to limit it, as well as creating job opportunities for Lebanese youth.
Mikati also welcomed the regional director of the World Bank in the Middle East, Jan Christophe Carrière, where they discussed the projects proposed for financing by the bank. Further discussions will continue next week.
Additionally, Mikati chaired a meeting that included Minister of State for Administrative Development Najla Riachi and Minister of Agriculture Abbas Al-Hajj Hassan, dedicated to discussing the waste treatment plant and landfill in the town of Srar in Akkar. Riachi noted that "the waste treatment plant in Srar is equipped with the best global technologies funded by the European Union, but operations stopped with the onset of the crisis, and the landfill was not established because contractors were unable to carry out the work due to charging their fees based on 1500 Lebanese pounds to the dollar."
