As part of the daily monitoring conducted by the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces to reduce armed robbery operations in various Lebanese areas, and after a recent increase in such incidents in the city of Tripoli by unknown individuals, the specialized units of the branch intensified their field and investigative measures to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
As a result of extensive inquiries and investigations, the identity of the gang members involved in the mentioned operations in Tripoli was determined, including the suspects: A. Q. (born in 1999, Lebanese) and G. H. (born in 2000, Lebanese). On April 18, 2023, following careful surveillance, one of the branch's patrols executed a tight ambush in the Al-Tal area, resulting in the arrest of the aforementioned individuals who were on a motorcycle that was seized.
Upon searching them and the motorcycle, two military pistols, a quantity of hashish, and two mobile phones were found in their possession. During the investigation, they confessed to committing several armed robbery incidents in the city of Tripoli alongside another individual who had been apprehended by one of the branch's patrols earlier in the Jabal Mohsen area. Legal proceedings were taken against them, and they were referred with the seized items to the relevant authority based on judicial orders.
