The President of the General Labor Union, Bishara Asmar, stated that "things in the country remain unchanged and are worsening as long as there is continued blatant interference affecting Lebanese sovereignty, which is the reason for the major conflict that constantly aims to economically and socially undermine the Lebanese people." In a talk with "Nour" Radio, he urged citizens to be aware and fully coordinate with security agencies, appealing to the latter to protect any movements, noting that their activities next week will be within a framework that preserves civil peace.
Asmar pointed out that "in major crises, we should resort to reducing taxes, but what we see today is the opposite, as there is a trend to raise them, which puts the Lebanese in a critical crisis. What is needed today is a state that works to stop the currency collapse and prevent the dollar's increase." He emphasized that "blocking roads is unproductive because it harms citizens and those who go out to earn their daily livelihoods."
Asmar added, "We in the General Labor Union are conducting several important communications, and we have called for a strike in independent institutions, for private sector teachers, and transportation sectors. We have a movement planned for Monday in this context to announce a significant outcry in all regions towards finding political solutions."
