Title: 10 Killed in Troubled Northwest Cameroon

The governor of the northwest region of Cameroon announced on Monday that "gunmen killed ten people and injured two others at a busy intersection in the city of Bamenda in the troubled region." A witness stated that "the attackers arrived in vehicles late Sunday and ordered people to lie on the ground, accusing them of not supporting separatists in the area, and opened fire while some complied with their orders and others ran away." Ambazonian Defense Forces denied responsibility for the incident, as they are the main separatist group in English-speaking Ambazonia, which has been fighting since 2017 in protest against alleged marginalization by a government that primarily speaks French. Governor Adolf Lele L'Afrix told Reuters, "The 'terrorists' behind the massacre are being pursued," adding, "Investigations are underway, and we will issue a statement on this later today." The witness noted that "men in military uniforms arrived in two vehicles and rushed towards the Natcho intersection, where there are restaurants, bars, and shops, around 6:30 PM GMT." They added that "they fired at people randomly before leaving."
