China Opposes Scheduled Visit of Taiwan's Vice President to America

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday its opposition to any "form of official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan, and firmly opposes deceptive visits by separatists advocating for Taiwan's independence." The statement urged Washington to halt official U.S. communications with Taiwan and to prevent the solidification of actual relations between them. Taiwan's Vice President William Lai will stop in New York and San Francisco on his trip to and from Paraguay for the inauguration of its new president.
