Russia: Sentencing of a Citizen Convicted of Funding Terrorism in Syria

A resident of the Astrakhan region in southern Russia has been sentenced to 8.5 years in prison for financing the activities of the "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham" organization in Syria. The Russian Federal Security Service arrested Ivan Gozhvin, born in 1999, on charges of being involved in financing the terrorist organization, as he sent money transfers to one of the organization's activists in Syria. Authorities seized banking cards, booklets, communication devices, and other electronic media from him, which were used in his illicit activities.
