Osama Hamdan, a leader in the "Hamas" movement, announced "efforts and communications with Qatar and Egypt aimed at reaching a ceasefire for humanitarian reasons in Gaza." He stated that "the Israeli occupation, under American cover, openly refuses to cease fire, and we confidently assert that the number of Israeli army casualties is much higher than what is being announced."
