MP Ashraf Rifi, on behalf of the opposition MPs, stated that "Lebanon, through its army and military forces, has the constitutional right to defend every inch of its territory," emphasizing that the opposition MPs reject dragging Lebanon into war. Rifi said in a statement from the Parliament: "Constitutional order begins with the election of a president, and we say no to war, no to dragging Lebanon towards destruction, and no to anyone controlling the decision of peace and war." He continued: "Out of our concern for Lebanon and its people, and due to the ongoing refusal to elect a president, we affirm our steadfast support for the Palestinian people." Rifi called on the international community to stop the crimes and find a sustainable solution for the Palestinian issue.
