Syria has confirmed that Israel's ongoing aggressions against its territory and its escalation of "criminal" practices against the Palestinian people are driving the region towards comprehensive escalation and a new phase of insecurity and instability. This requires the United Nations Security Council to break its silence and assume its responsibilities.
During a session of the Security Council yesterday, Thursday, regarding the situation in the Middle East, a member of Syria's permanent delegation to the UN, Advisor Wissam Ajeeb, stated that Israel continues its "barbaric" aggressions. He expressed Syria's strong condemnation of these aggressions, which represent war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Ajeeb pointed out that "the paralysis suffered by the Security Council and its inability to find a just and urgent solution to the long-standing Palestinian issue, due to the obstruction by one permanent member, harms the council's reputation and its ability to fulfill its responsibilities, at a time when we are in desperate need of urgent action from the council to stop the Israeli 'crimes', hold the perpetrators accountable, and ensure they do not recur, allowing the Palestinian people to enjoy their legitimate and inalienable rights."
