It was announced that a new host would be announced as soon as possible, with the tournament dates currently remaining unchanged. Potential sanctions against the Indonesian Football Association may also be determined at a later stage. The president of the Indonesian association stated that "FIFA recognized that the current situation cannot continue, and we must comply with that as a member state of the international federation." An Indonesian official noted that "FIFA ruled that Indonesia had not adhered to the commitments made in its bid to host the Under-20 World Cup."
