Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that there are reasons to believe that Western intelligence agencies are involved in "subversive" activities carried out by Ukraine. During a televised meeting with officials on Wednesday, he stated, "There are several reasons to say that resources from third countries... Western intelligence agencies are involved in the preparation for such sabotage and terrorist acts."
On another note, the Russian president informed the new ambassadors of the United States and the European Union in Moscow that Washington and the European bloc are responsible for the significant deterioration in relations with his country since Russia sent troops to Ukraine last year.
Putin told the new U.S. ambassador Lynne Tracy that her country's support for the 2014 revolution in Ukraine led to the current conflict between Moscow and Kyiv, and he noted that relations between the two countries are in "a serious crisis due to fundamental differences in their approaches to shaping the modern world order."
He added, "Madam Ambassador, I know you may not agree with me, but I must say that the United States' use of tools such as support for what are called 'color revolutions' and backing the coup in Kyiv in 2014 ultimately led to the current Ukrainian crisis."
During his conversation with the new EU ambassador to Russia, Roland Galharague, Putin said, "The European Union has begun a geopolitical confrontation with Russia."
Additionally, the Russian president urged Denmark to support a Russian proposal to establish an independent international commission to investigate the explosions that destroyed the Nord Stream gas pipeline, which transports gas from Russia to Germany.
