The Head of the Kataeb Party, MP Sami Jmayel, affirmed that no one is able to impose their will on the Lebanese people, stating that yesterday's issue has been resolved. He pointed out that "this is not the first time, but a trajectory that could lead the country towards dangerous paths we avoided yesterday, yet nothing assures us that it won’t recur with different outcomes."
Jmayel emphasized during a press conference that "amidst this situation, we see a method of imposition and superiority, and all of this can only lead us to further collapse. For the sake of this country, we call out that no one can impose their will, and the parliamentary elections have produced a balance, hence they cannot impose their president nor hold legislative sessions that contravene the constitution."
He insisted that "the solution lies in electing a president capable of initiating a reform agenda. Hezbollah will not be able to impose a president on the Lebanese, and a president imposed on us by Hezbollah, even if there is a religious decree for it, will be a president for Hezbollah's republic, not for Lebanon." He argued that "once the president is elected, Lebanon can only proceed through a national conference that includes reconciliation and transparency," clarifying that "it is time to address all closed files, to turn the page and move on to a new phase."
