Bahrain Summons Swedish Diplomat in Protest Against Burning and Desecration of Copies of the Quran

The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned a Swedish diplomat today, Tuesday, who serves as the charge d'affaires at the Swedish embassy in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, and is accredited to Bahrain. The diplomat was handed a protest note regarding the allowance of "extremists" to burn and desecrate copies of the Quran. The ministry expressed "the Kingdom of Bahrain's condemnation and strong denunciation of the recurrence of these disgraceful incidents, considering them a serious provocation to Muslim sentiments and a violation of international principles, charters, and resolutions."
