The spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Abu Zeid, told Reuters that Egypt has implemented a new policy requiring all Sudanese nationals to obtain visas before entering the country after discovering "illicit activities," including the issuance of counterfeit visas. This decision contrasts with a previous agreement between the two countries that guaranteed the freedom of entry for children, women, and elderly men without a visa. Abu Zeid added that more than 200,000 Sudanese have entered Egypt since the outbreak of fighting in Sudan in April.
