Blinken Informed Bazoum of US Support to Restore His Government in Niger

The U.S. State Department revealed that Secretary Antony Blinken informed ousted Nigerien President Mohamed Bazoum during a phone call on Wednesday that the United States remains committed to restoring the democratically elected government in the African nation. The United States had ordered the evacuation of some embassy staff and their families after military officers took power there, but the mission will remain open and senior officials will continue their work there.
