The Yomiuri Shimbun reported on Saturday, citing several sources within the government and the ruling party, that Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida intends to appoint a new Chief Cabinet Secretary to replace Hirokazu Matsuno. Media reports have indicated that Matsuno received undisclosed political funding within the ruling party. Kishida, the leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, is facing intense scrutiny following allegations that members of parliament from the ruling party, including Matsuno and other senior party officials, may have received over 100 million yen (approximately $693,000) in fundraising proceeds that were omitted from records.
