Zelensky Dismisses All Military Recruitment Center Heads in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Friday the dismissal of all heads of military recruitment centers in Ukraine due to corruption concerns. The president said in a statement on Telegram, "This system must be managed by people who are fully aware of what war is and why mockery and bribery during war are treason." Kyiv prioritizes anti-corruption as it faces the ongoing Russian invasion and seeks to join the European Union. Zelensky added that the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, is responsible for implementing this decision, and the Ukrainian internal security agency will investigate new candidates for the positions. Ukraine is facing challenges in military recruitment as the war with Russia approaches its eighteenth month, while scandals periodically reveal financial corruption or harsh recruitment practices within the Ukrainian military.
