The spokesperson for the Pakistan Army, Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, indicated on Monday that "three senior officers in the Pakistan Army have been dismissed for their failure to prevent the violent clashes that erupted across the country last month." He added: "At least 102 individuals are currently being prosecuted in military courts in connection with the violence." Chaudhry stated, "We had to identify the reasons behind the breaches of security at military facilities and understand what went wrong." He continued: "Administrative investigations led by Major Generals have been conducted, and penalties have been issued based on their recommendations." He noted that "strict administrative measures have also been taken against 15 other army officers, including officers of the rank of Major General and Brigadier, as part of an internal accountability process within the army." Supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan attacked military facilities following his arrest on charges of corruption on May 9.
