Eight people were killed and 21 others injured in a Russian missile strike today, Friday, on the city of Sloviansk in eastern Ukraine, according to a regional Ukrainian official. Pavlo Kyrylenko, the head of the military administration for the Donetsk region, noted that at least seven sites were shelled in Sloviansk, located west of the city of Bakhmut. Kyrylenko stated, "Rescue workers on the scene pulled a woman born in 1946 from the rubble. She is a prominent official in President Volodymyr Zelensky's office, Daria Zarivna." The Ukrainian police reported that ten buildings were damaged and indicated that the upper two floors of a five-story building collapsed following the strike, with a fire breaking out on the opposite side of the site. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote, "The state of evil shows its true nature once again, killing individuals in broad daylight. It destroys and ruins all forms of life."
