Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad held a phone conversation today with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry. Miqdad emphasized that the primary reason for the eruption of the situation in the occupied territories is the practices of the Zionist entity over decades of occupation of the West Bank and the annexation of Jerusalem, and consequently, the failure to achieve a just solution to the Palestinian issue that meets the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. Miqdad also stated that a unified Arab stance to stop Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people and to deliver humanitarian aid to the children of Palestine should be a priority for our joint efforts. For his part, Minister Shoukry expressed Egypt's deep concern over the ongoing events in Gaza and the escalating targeting of Palestinian civilians by Israeli forces, in addition to the escalation carried out in southern Lebanon and Syrian territories. Shoukry pointed out that Egypt is making intensive efforts and communications with various parties to calm the situation and urgently deliver humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, noting that everyone's efforts agree on viewing the crisis from an ethical and humanitarian perspective.
