16 Injured in Train Accident in Northern Germany

German police announced today, Friday, that about 16 people were injured as a result of a collision between a locomotive and a passenger train in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Northern Germany. They reported that "the incident occurred around 12:25 local time at the Itzehoe station," and explained: "When the locomotive coupled with a stationary passenger train, a collision occurred that resulted in injuries to 16 people on board the train." The police added that "11 passengers on the high-speed Intercity train needed to be hospitalized, while five others declined treatment, and all victims sustained minor injuries." Measures were taken, and railway lines were dug for two and a half hours after the collision. The police have opened an investigation into the incident.
