Clashes on the Border between Israel and Gaza

Three Palestinians were injured in clashes along the border between Israel and Gaza on Saturday, while the Israeli army stated that it was targeting sites belonging to Hamas in the Gaza Strip in response to acts of rioting. Seemingly, this marks a new wave of violence at the border, as Palestinians in Gaza have been organizing protests at the separation fence for eight days after a period of relative calm. Young individuals hurled stones and makeshift explosive devices at Israeli forces, who responded with live fire. Residents of Gaza assert that the protests are in response to various issues, including the treatment of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and Jewish visits to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. According to the Israeli army, protesters also launched incendiary balloons into Israeli territory, igniting fires in the areas near the separation fence. The Health Ministry reported yesterday that 31 Palestinians were injured during the clashes, which erupted days after an Israeli soldier shot and killed a protester.
