The President of the National Anti-Corruption Authority, Judge Claude Karam, accompanied by board member Joe Maalouf, participated in the Global Anti-Corruption Forum organized by the World Bank at its headquarters in Washington. During the forum, Judge Karam delivered a speech discussing the establishment of the National Anti-Corruption Authority in Lebanon, its powers, and the challenges it faces given the critical conditions of our country.
While in Washington, Karam met with senior officials at the U.S. Departments of State and Treasury, with the presence of Wail Hashim, chargé d'affaires at the Lebanese Embassy in Washington. During the meetings, discussions took place regarding ways to cooperate on issues related to fighting corruption and money laundering. Both officials, Goldrich and Kurt, who are responsible for this issue in the Middle East, expressed their readiness to support and remain in communication to identify the needs and suitable frameworks for this cooperation.
