Local authorities in California have revealed that a group of hikers found human remains in the Baldy Wilderness area in the southern part of the state, where actor Julian Sands went missing in January. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department stated in a press release last night that the hikers contacted Fontana station officials around 10 AM on Saturday to report the discovery of the body, which has been sent for forensic identification. Sands disappeared on January 13 after going solo hiking in the Baldy Bowl area of the San Gabriel Mountains, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) northeast of Los Angeles. A search for him began immediately in the area, but ground teams withdrew the following day due to the risks of an avalanche and poor trail conditions. Sands was born in England before moving to California in the 1980s to pursue an acting career in Hollywood after the success of his 1985 film "A Room with a View."
