China indicated on Saturday that the "final agreement from the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP28 regarding fossil fuels may not be perfect, but it requires consensus among parties with significantly different viewpoints." China's chief climate envoy, Xie Zhenhua, stated, "The country is working with all major negotiating groups in an effort to find a solution." The language to be agreed upon regarding fossil fuels is the most contentious issue at the conference.
