North Korean leader Kim Jong Un vowed that Pyongyang's response would be firm and that he would resort to nuclear weapons in the event of a nuclear attack against his country, according to the North Korean state news agency.
The agency reported Kim stating that Pyongyang would respond resolutely with nuclear weapons to nuclear threats, and employ a ruthless comprehensive counter to any comprehensive confrontation. The agency noted that Kim personally supervised the missile launch conducted by North Korea on Friday.
The North Korean state news agency mentioned that Kim criticized what he called "aggression war exercises," emphasizing that if the United States continued to make threats against his country, Pyongyang would respond firmly to nuclear weapons with its own nuclear weapons, and to comprehensive confrontation with ruthless comprehensive counteractions.
The agency also indicated that Kim attended the missile launch "with his beloved daughter and wife." Since Kim announced in September that North Korea had officially dedicated itself to a policy making its nuclear status "irreversible," Washington has strengthened regional security cooperation, including through joint military exercises, and is exploring ways to enhance protection for Seoul and Tokyo.
