Georgia Meloni Announces Separation from Husband

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced today, Friday, that she has separated from her partner, television journalist Andrea Giampieroni, who has faced criticism in recent weeks for making comments that exhibited discrimination against women both on air and in other conversations. Meloni wrote on her social media accounts, "My relationship with Andrea Giampieroni, which lasted nearly ten years, has now ended... Our paths have diverged for some time, and it is time to acknowledge that." The couple has a seven-year-old daughter. Giampieroni presents a news program broadcast on Mediaset, part of the media group owned by the heirs of the late Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who was an ally of Meloni. In two days this week, another program aired on Mediaset, featuring outtakes from Giampieroni's show, which is not live, in which he used inappropriate language and appeared to flirt with a female colleague, saying, "Why haven't I met you before?"
