Cancellation of the 2024 European Water Polo Championship in Israel

The European Aquatics Federation announced today, Thursday, the cancellation of the continental water polo championship that was scheduled to take place in Israel next January due to the conflict between Israel and Hamas. The championship, which was set to be held in the city of Netanya, was canceled following meetings with the Israeli Water Polo Federation. The European Aquatics Federation stated, "The two organizations agreed that it would be impossible to host the European Water Polo Championship in Netanya, Israel, as planned in January 2024." The federation added that it is considering other options for how teams can qualify for the water polo World Championship scheduled to be held in Doha in February.
