Giant hailstones in the city of Altıneyla, Sivas province, Turkey, caused extensive damage on Sunday, shattering windows of dozens of vehicles and destroying storefronts and homes. Altıneyla Mayor Sinan Akbulut stated, “The damage is very significant, homes and vehicles have been affected, and animals have died.” Additionally, several provinces experienced heavy rainfall that flooded roads in the capital Ankara and led to the collapse of a road in the city of Samsun. The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) issued yellow and orange warnings yesterday in several provinces and regions, which included the cities of Afyonkarahisar, Burdur, Denizli, Eskişehir, Isparta, Konya, Kütahya, and Uşak.
