The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated today, Friday, that "Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro will visit the country starting today, signaling a renewal of communication between the two nations amid tensions between Beijing and Western capitals." The ministry mentioned that "Maduro's visit follows meetings in Shanghai and Beijing between a Venezuelan delegation that included the Vice President and the Minister of Oil and Chinese officials, including Foreign Minister Wang Yi earlier this week."
The ministry's spokesperson, Mao Ning, said: "The relationship between China and Venezuela has withstood the test of international changes and remains solid as a rock. The mutual political trust between the two countries is growing stronger." Furthermore, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez indicated that "the two governments are working to enhance bilateral relations, expand strategic cooperation, and engage in joint international efforts for peace, respecting the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter."
