Gerald Ledford, a mortician in Arkansas, USA, revealed that "silicone breasts are not removed after a woman’s death, even though they do not decompose with the rest of the body." In a video on TikTok, he shared that a follower asked him, "If a female has implants, are they removed or do they decompose with the body? Will she become a skeleton with a fake breast?"
Ledford responded, "They are not removed; they are yours, whether you bought them or someone bought them for you. You take them with you to the grave." He explained that "if you are embalmed, the embalming fluid will preserve the tissues and slow down the decomposition process. If you are not embalmed, you will decompose very quickly. But the breast will remain. It will not decompose."
He also debunked the myth that hair and nails continue to grow on the body after death, stating that embalming simply gives the appearance of growth. He noted that "embalming fluid causes dehydration, causing the skin to shrink, so it seems like hair and nails are growing. However, your fake breast will remain as it is, and the skin around it will shrink and eventually decompose."
