The U.S. State Department announced today, Sunday, that the United States, Saudi Arabia, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and the African Union have resumed humanitarian talks for a ceasefire between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated, "There is no suitable military solution to this conflict. We urge the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to engage in the talks constructively with the imperative of saving lives, reducing fighting, and creating a pathway out of the conflict through negotiation."
