Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed his country's hope today, Thursday, for reaching a peace agreement with Azerbaijan in the coming months and establishing diplomatic relations with it. In his speech at a forum in Tbilisi, Georgia's capital, Pashinyan stated that Armenia also hopes to open its borders with Turkey, a close ally of Azerbaijan, to citizens of third countries. The Armenian prime minister's remarks come amid efforts to promote peace in the volatile South Caucasus region after Azerbaijan regained control of the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region last month, which is internationally recognized as Azerbaijani territory but had been under the control of separatist Armenians since the 1990s.
