Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren stated in a letter to parliament on Wednesday that "the Netherlands wants to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets as soon as possible." She added that "the training will be coordinated with Belgium, Denmark, and the United Kingdom, and other countries may join."
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed that "training Ukrainian pilots on Western F-16 fighter jets will not make the alliance a party in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine." Former Russian diplomats previously considered that "sending F-16s to Ukraine would raise the issue of NATO's role in the conflict."
