The Libyan National Army announced today, Tuesday, that "the death toll from the floods and torrents that struck the city of Derna earlier this month has risen to more than 4,000." Army spokesman Ahmed al-Mismari stated: "The number of dead has reached 4,029," noting that "there are 87 bodies of Egyptians that are not included in the statistics and have been handed over to the Egyptian authorities for burial in their homeland." On September 10 of this month, a devastating hurricane swept through several regions in eastern Libya, causing significant destruction and resulting in thousands of deaths, injuries, and missing persons.
