Iranian Media: 32 Dead in Fire at Rehabilitation Center for Addicts

Iranian state media reported today, Friday, that a massive fire broke out at a drug rehabilitation center in northern Iran, resulting in at least 32 deaths and 16 injuries. The semi-official news agency "Mehr" stated that judicial authorities are conducting investigations to determine the causes of the fire at the rehabilitation center in the city of Lankaran in the Gilan province by the Caspian Sea. The news agency "Mezan," affiliated with the judiciary, mentioned that the managers and officials of the center are under investigation. According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Iran faces one of the most severe addiction problems in the world.
