The Prime Minister appointed by the military council in Niger, Ali Amin Zain, confirmed in a press conference today that discussions with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are ongoing. He anticipated a military operation at any time against his country, stating, "We are ready." He emphasized the necessity for "the French ambassador in Niamey to leave the country as soon as possible." He noted that "there is a desire to maintain relations with Paris, but unacceptable actions are being committed."
Amin Zain added that "the government and the military council are working together to ensure security in the country, and the armed forces have achieved significant victories against terrorists since last July." He continued, "Two complaints have been submitted to ECOWAS regarding the sanctions imposed on our country, which prevent access to medicine and food for the people." Amin Zain expressed "hope to meet former President Muhammad Bazoum." The authorities in Niger had announced that they opened the country's airspace and raised the price of uranium from 0.8 to 200 euros per kilogram.
