Sources have informed that Minister of Energy in the caretaker government, Walid Fayad, has notified the Electricité du Liban (EDL) to adopt the new electricity tariff starting Tuesday. However, sources from EDL clarified that "the billing at the new electricity tariff will not commence before January next year, meaning citizens will pay the bills for November and December based on the new tariff at the beginning of 2023." They expressed hope that power supply for a duration of 8 to 10 hours may have started, especially if the tender for fuel oil and gas oil launched by the Ministry of Energy and Water to purchase fuel oil quantities that began days ago succeeds, based on a commitment from caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati to secure funding for these fuels. The sources also noted that "in addition to the potential success of the tender, efforts are ongoing with Algeria to reach an agreement to supply Lebanon with fuel oil with a payment grace period of 6 months."
