Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that "the armed confrontation in Ukraine will continue until the West abandons its plans to control Moscow and defeat it." He observed that the goal of the West, led by the United States, is to bolster its global dominance.
He questioned: "Why does the armed confrontation in Ukraine not come to an end? The answer is very simple. It will continue until the West gives up its plans to maintain its hegemony and its obsessive desire to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia through puppets in Kyiv."
He added, "At present, there are no signs of any change in this position."
Lavrov is set to attend the East Asia Summit and the ASEAN Regional Forum in Jakarta this week, where U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will also be present.
