Internet Service Returns to Aden After Hours of Outage

Residents reported that "the communications service of Yemen Mobile as well as the internet service (Yemen Net) returned in the coastal city of Aden in southern Yemen and other provinces on Tuesday evening after a complete outage since early morning." The government telecom institution in Aden had previously announced a total suspension of both services in Aden and other provinces due to deliberate sabotage, marking the second incident of its kind within less than 48 hours. The institution confirmed in a statement that a fiber optic cable was subjected to a double act of sabotage in the Damt area of Al-Dhale' governorate in the south and in the Khour Amira area near the coastal city of Al-Mukha on the Red Sea. Yemen Net, which is affiliated with the government telecom institution in Sana'a, is the largest service provider in Yemen through third-generation technology and includes millions of subscribers from most provinces in the country.
