Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani indicated on Thursday that "global powers should stop discussing the concept of a two-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and instead provide practical proposals to implement it once the war in Gaza ends." Speaking in Paris after a humanitarian conference on Gaza, Tajani noted that "Rome sent a hospital ship from Naples to the region this morning," but emphasized that "resolving the conflict will require more creativity to create a vision for peace." Tajani told reporters, "I see no other solutions than the United Nations if we want peace... we must move forward and try to persuade." He suggested that "after the war in Gaza ends, the establishment of a United Nations peacekeeping mission, similar to that in Lebanon, could be one of the options to explore." Italy has approximately 1,300 soldiers deployed in Lebanon.
